Above the first cosplayers start to arrive. Heathre
and some friends play leg games. ^_^ Below we are
hanging out in the lobby just past the registration desk (off camera to the
right). We are waiting for the dealers room to open (off camera to the
left). It was now 1 PM and the con organizers said that the dealer's room
would be opening late as the vendors were still setting up.
If I had a complaint about Dreamcon, it was that the first day seemed poorly
organized to me. Registration opened late because they were not set up to
take payments; the dealer's room opened late because the vendors were not
yet set up and the very worst thing was there was NO schedule of events and
panels as they were still waiting for them to be printed. I came back in a
couple of hours and they said they had handed them all out and was waiting
on paper to print more. Further, they didn't even keep one copy for folks to
at least review at the desk. And the folks at the counter had no idea
themselves. So I had no clue what to expect that day or what would be
scheduled for Saturday. Anyway, as we had
already been waiting for hours, we decided to leave for lunch and hoped the
con would finally be open when we returned. |
