As I was making my rounds photographing cosplayers, I had the pleasure to
meet Noboru Ishiguro in person. There was a bit of awkwardness here as a
security guard stormed up from a nearby trade show demanding that we move
away from their entrance. Fortunately I was able to head off this
over-zealous guard and defuse the potential gross insult he was preparing to
instigate.
Jayme and I attended Ishiguro-sensei's panel and it was
interesting to hear how critical he was of the direction modern Japanese
animation has taken with the embracement of the concept of moe in character
designs and characteristics.
As a treat for the audience, Ishiguro-sensei handed
out cels to the attendees from past movies and shows produced from his
studio. Below is the line of fans as they waited for their cel.
