Since we registered too late to get a
room in the Waverly itself, we resigned ourselves to one of the back up
hotels. Because the Sheraton Suites Galleria promised an elevated pedestrian
walkway to the Cobb Galleria Centre, we opted for that hotel. The rooms were
stellar, but the walkway, rather then being a short cut to the convention
center, was a rather convoluted path. To take it, you had to go out of the
hotel, up to the top floor of the parking garage, backtrack across a second street to the mall
parking lot behind the Sheraton and
then cross two walkways. It was at least twice as far as simply
crossing the highway between the Sheraton and the Cobb, but it was certainly
a great deal safer.
In the picture above, you can see the
Cobb Centre and a bit of of the main walkway between the trees. The Sheraton
is to the left and the first walkway (pictured below) is to the right.

After you cross the first walkway, there
is this rather pleasant zig-zag path to the main walkway that crosses the Cobb
Parkway itself. Below, we are crossing the
main walkway. Move your cursor over the image to see an outside view of the
skybridge. |

Once we exited the walkway, we then
headed down these stairs and off to the right to the main entrance of the
convention center. After entering the convention center, we had to travel
down the entire length of it to get to to Waverly where the con was
actually being hosted.
Below, we are finally in the
pre-registration line, ready to pick up our badges. |
