Here’s one for all of you people that love girls that fight a lot and always beat the snot out of anything. Battle Angel is about an android named Gally who was created by a Hunter Warrior [a bounty hunter] Named Ido. One of Gally’s dreams is to become a Hunter Warrior. But, Ido is completely against it. Gally went behind Ido’s back and registered herself as a Hunter Warrior. She met a boy who she almost immediately falls in love with. The problem is that she was told to hunt down her love. Now she must choose between him and the lives of people that get their spines stolen by him. Now, Gally is clueless, she has no memory of her past life. The only thing she knows is that she found under Zalem, the floating city as a bunch of scrap pieces of an android. Battle Angel is a movie that should be for 13 and older people due to very graphic violence. (1/31/98)
Bubblegum Crisis is about four super heroes that fight these bezerk robots called boomers. The boomers were supposed to do good but went bezerk and started killing people. So the Knight Sabers have to destroy them. Each of the Knight Sabers have their own powers in their suits. My favorite part is when the Knight Sabers have to fight the super boomer. Bubblegum Crisis comes in 8 series. So if you like super heroes fighting for good in the future this is for you. I recommend Bubblegum Crisis for ages 8 and up. (10/27/96)
Now this is an awesome series! Dragon Ball is about a little boy named Goku and his friend Bulma. They’re on a quest to collect 7 lucky Dragon Balls, once united, a dragon will appear and grant that person one wish. Bulma is a rich girl from the city with a wish for the perfect boyfriend. Goku is probably the strongest boy in the world with a bottomless pit for a stomach, he is just going to help Bulma find the Dragon Balls. On the way they meet lots of interesting characters such as Oolong the morphing pig; Yamcha, a master martial artist, and Puar a morphing friend of Yamcha’s. They will go to any heights to get those 7 balls. Although America has only dubbed five 1-hour tapes plus one full-length movie I recommend this to all people and children 5 and up. This comedy adventure is a great thing to try out if you like funny action. (1/31/98)
Dragon Half is about a teenage girl named Mink who is half human and half dragon. She is the way she is because her mother was a dragon disguised as a human and her father, who is a human, took her from an evil king and married her. So then Mink was born. Mink and almost every other girl in the world is in love with a knight whose is also a singer named Dick Saucer.
Lufa and Pia are her best friends. Pia has a cute little pet that looks somewhat like a squirrel named Mappy, he has the ability to turn into a huge monster.
The king hires a knight who is really full of himself. He hires the knight to get Mink so he can get the dragon woman, Mink's mother and marry her himself. Of course he fails. So, the king hires Saucer to kill her but he was busy. So, to raise money to go to a Dick Saucer concert Mink enters a 'Brutal Killer Contest.' But Dick Saucer enters and she doesn't want to fight him. Her friends are at the side always cheering her on. Well, I'm not going to spoil the ending for you!!!!! (6/30/98)
Fushigi Yuugi is about a girl named Miaka and her friend Yui. Yui, being the very smart one, and Miaka, the girl who never studies and is obsessed with food. Anyway, they were just on a normal trip to the library and Miaka finds herself wandering into a private room. This book hits her in the head and Yui and Miaka start to read it. [although it is in ancient chinese, Yui can understand it] Then the book sucks them inside it. The next thing they know, they find themselves in front of two traffickers who sell women. Then, out of nowhere comes a man who immediately beats them up. The man has a character on his forehead, the sign of the ogre. That’s just the first episode! Soon Miaka finds out she is Suzaku No Miko, a goddess type person. As for Yui, she went back to the real world. Well, Suzaku No Miko must find seven seishi protectors of Suzaku No Miko, to call Suzaku, the protector of Konan Country. But, there is an evil side, in Kotou Country, Konan’s enemies. But you have to understand Miaka is in Ancient China long ago. This series is full of fast fighting, romance, and a little bit of sadness. I recommend it to people 10 and older. Fushigi Yuugi is one of the best anime I have ever seen. I think you should try at least a couple of episodes of it before saying no! (1/31/98)
Gall Force is about a group of women that are in the past in these high tech space ships. I mean in the past before mankind, defending the universe from The Paranoids and the Solenoids. The women have to stop the evil forces from destroying this universe. They not only have to keep the forces from blowing up the universe but they have to defend themselves. My favorite part is when one of the women goes out in this giant mechanical body suit to fight the forces. This is a really good movie if you like sci-fi anime. If so you should really try this!!! Grave of the Fireflies is a very sad movie about a teenager and a young child who had a father die in World War 2 and they had to live on very little money and food and live in a little mineshaft. They would have to go to shelters when they had air raids. Their mother died during the fire bombing and they slowly die of sicknesses and being poor. I recommend this for all ages. This is a very sad movie. So give it a try!! (10/27/96)
Gunbuster is about a young girl that goes up in space to find her father. But her father is dead. So they build a giant machine called Gunbuster to go up in space. You don’t grow old and seconds up there is years down here. They have to stop these aliens from blowing up the universe. So they use a bomb the size of Mercury to blow up their universe. My favorite part is when they go up to fight the aliens. This is really great anime. If you like sci-fi anime that takes place in the future you’ll like this. I recommend this anime to ages 9 and up. You have to try this anime or else your missing out on a lot of fun!!! (10/27/96)
Gun Smith Cats is about two women that love weapons. One loves guns one loves bombs. This is cool, exciting, great anime. They have to stop these guys from killing them. My favorite part is when robbers try to rob the gun shop they own. It was pretty cool. It’s only a 30-minute t.v. Episode so there is not a lot to say but you should still try it. It is gun slinging, exciting anime. So give it a try!!! (10/27/96)
Magic Knight Rayearth is about three high school girls Hikaru Shido, Umi Ryuzaki, and Fu Kououji. {Hikaru chan, Umi chan, Fu chan.} These three girls are suddenly warped into a magical world were weird creatures live. Magic Knight Rayearth is a very interesting type of anime that is sort of like a RPG game. {Role Playing Game} You know getting weapons, learning spells, magically go into a transformation scene when getting ready for battle. Their weapons, Hikaru chan the Broadsword, Umi chan the Longsword, and Fu chan The Bow and Arrow. The first spells are Hikaru chan Fire Arrow, Umi chan Water Dragon, and Fu chan Healing wind. Magic Knight Rayearth is really great anime. So don’t miss out on all the fun!!! (8/20/96)
Evangelion is about a team of pilots for these huge machines used for fighting against a race of huge aliens called angels. The Evengelions, or Evas, are about three stories tall and will only react to certain school children. For the most of the series you will get used to the three pilots: the 1st child, Amanami Rei, she drives Eva #01. The 2nd child, Sohryu Asuka Langley, she drives Eva #02. The 3rd child, Shinji Ikari, he drives Eva #00.
The Evas will only respond to these three children. So, they are the ones that must pilot them. Ikari’s dad is the boss of all that goes on in NERV. To get in to the Eva, the children have to get inside an entry plug, which is just a big pill shaped container, that’s where they can control the Evas. One disadvantage to piloting an Eva is everything that happens to the Eva makes the children feel it. So, if the Eva gets an arm cut off then it makes the child feel like they got an arm cut off.
This anime is, in my opinion, one of the best there is. You are sure you have a lot of fun watching this series. The story line is great and watching the Evas fight the Angels in the middle of Tokyo is really cool. (6/30/98)
Nurse Angel Ririka is about a young fourth grade girl who gets a hat from an upperclassman whom she calls Sempai, which when she calls her holy prayer, she becomes an evil-fighting nurse. It all started when a 9th grade boy mysteriously started going to Ririka's school. One of the bratty rich girls started a fan club for him and her and her friends waited on him hand and foot.
One of Ririka's classmates and childhood friends named Seiya has a huge crush on Ririka and she does not know that he likes her. But their families are real close friends and so are they. One day when they were walking to school, Ririka accidentally bumped into Sempai, he turned around and noticed something but, he turned back around. Later the next day he, Sempai, gave her a gift since it was her birthday. [don't ask how he knew] The bratty girl started screaming at her because she dared to even except a gift from Sempai.
The bad guys in this one are the Dark Joker. A team of dark people who are trying to kill Ririka and Sempai. Seiya is always trying to save Ririka and is always in the way. The two you mostly see are Dewey, a silver haired guy who looks more like a girl than a guy and is extremely powerful. The other guy you mostly see is Buros-sama, the boss of Dewey, who loves to torture people, he also doubles Dewey's strength and power. (6/30/98)
Totoro is a very sweet movie for all ages. It is about two girls and their dad that move into a new house full of imaginary creatures called dust bunnies. Setsuke and Mai believe there is a giant imaginary creature called Totoro. So one day while Setsuke is at school Mai sees a little kappa [small creature], while playing so she follows it around all over the place until it jumps into a tree. Mai follows close behind, and then she comes to a huge fuzzy creature and then she takes a nap on it. When Setsuke comes home Mai is nowhere to be found. She sees Mai’s fallen hat and goes through the trail. She finds Mai lying on the ground sleeping. If you want to know what happens next see My Neighbor Totoro I recommend it for all ages. (1/31/98)
Oh! My Goddess is about this guy that called a wrong number and instead of a pizza he ordered a goddess! The goddess came and said he could have one wish. He wished he could have a girl like her. So she stayed with him. They lived together the guy noticed that he loved the goddess. So he got a job to make money to buy her a ring. So he made enough money and bought the ring, but was too chicken to give it to her. Soon the goddess was called back home. He had to give her the ring before she had to leave. Find out what happens next on Oh! My Goddess. Collect all the episodes. Don’t miss out!!! (10/27/96)
Project A-ko is about this girl that has super strength and has to wear bracers to keep her powers under control. My favorite parts are when A-ko and B-ko always get in fights. It is also about B-ko and C-ko. A-ko and B-ko are fighting over C-ko’s friendship. So they’re always getting in fights. B-ko always has these high tech robots and A-ko just has her fists and powers. When A-ko takes off her bracers her powers get out of control. C-ko comes over to A-ko’s house every day for school. A-ko is always in bed still and has to rush to get dressed. Then she bursts out the door, grabs C-ko’s hand and runs super fast and breaks the street and everything including running into this person named D breaking her arms and everything. An alien ship lands on earth in Japan and humans are on the ship and need help to get back in space. This is really great anime. I recommend Project A-ko for all ages. So try it out!! (10/27/96)
Ramna � is about a sixteen-year-old boy that goes with his father to these cursed springs to practice fighting on poles. They both fell in to one of the springs. Ramna fell into a spring that a sixteen-year-old girl had drowned in 1,500 years ago. His father fell into a spring that a panda had drowned in 2,000 years ago. So when ever they were splashed with cold water they would change into their cursed forms. But when splashed with hot water they would change back. They go and visit an old friend and that friend has three daughters named Akane sixteen years old, Nibiki seventeen years old, and Kisumi nineteen years old. My favorite scene is when Ramna knocked his father into the spring and the father or should I say panda just leaped out of the water and knocked him in. The two fathers want Ramna to marry one of the daughters. They also meet a lot of other people in Tokyo City. I recommend Ramna � for ages 8 and up. This is really great anime so you should give it a try!!! (10/27/96)
Sailor Moon is about these five teenager girls Serena [Sailor Moon], Amy [Sailor Mercury], Rae [Sailor Mars], Mina [Sailor Venus], Lina [Sailor Jupiter] that discover they have super powers and must save the earth from the evil Queen Beryl and her evil team of aliens. There are many other bad guys along the way. Sailor Moon loves to eat but truly only loves one, the Tuxedo Mask. She and her friends must complete a quest to save the world from the evil monsters that try to conquer it. Serena’s cat Luna is a talking cat and the one that told Serena that she is Sailor Moon. Mina’s Cat Artimis Can talk too because he is Luna’s friend. The Sailor Scouts must defeat all the monsters in their way. My favorite part is when Serena gets scared of all the monsters. So don’t miss out on all the fun!!! (10/27/96)
Urusei Yatsura is about a girl named Lum that comes down from space to compete to stay on earth with a teenager. The boy won but she stayed because he said he wanted to marry his girlfriend and she thought he was talking to her. So she acts like she is his girlfriend. Lum has super powers and she can fly because of her horns. She also has a little cousin that has super powers and can fly and can blow fire because he has horns, too. There are many episodes of Lum. If you like girls in tiger bikinis you’ll like this. So go out and get this series!!! (10/27/96)
