Since the first human chess match in 2004, Metrocon has
integrated an overall story involving the Metrocon Gear, a symbol of
Metrocon that is put in place as a filter on reality so that the ultimate
evil cannot come through.
Each year following that event, the story has continued to
evolve, played out with various events culminating in the human chess game
that has become a regular feature.
For this year, the intended theme of the chess match would
be Anime vs. Video Games. But, as always, there are wheels within wheels and
this year's confrontation is interrupted by a pirates invasion, lead by
Cervantes.
